Crafted by Josh is a one-person web design studio in Leyland, Lancashire — and it stays deliberately small.
Every site is designed and built by the same person who answers the phone, which means no handing your business off to a junior designer or a template picked from a library. If you ring the number on this site, I pick it up.
Most web design starts with a deposit and a promise. This studio works the other way round: I build the finished website first, so a local business can see exactly what they'd be getting before spending anything. It takes longer to build every site this way — but it means what you see is what you get, not a rendering of what it might eventually become.
The businesses I build for are usually the same kind — independent, local, run by someone who's good at what they do but hasn't had the time, or the right person, to get a proper website made. That's the gap this studio fills.
Hand-built, not templated
Every site is coded from scratch in HTML, CSS and JavaScript — no page-builder plugins, no recycled themes, and nothing you have to keep paying a platform to keep online.
Honest about what's real
Reviews, photos and claims on a site only go up if they're genuine. If something can't be confirmed yet, it's left out rather than made up.
Local, in person
Based in Leyland and covering Leyland, Chorley, Preston, Wigan and the surrounding areas — builds are often delivered in person, on a phone, over a coffee, rather than as a link in an email.
Built to last a decade
Plain HTML and CSS with no framework underneath doesn't rot. A site built here will still load, still work and still be editable long after this year's build tool has been abandoned.

Worth saying plainly, because “bespoke” gets used loosely. This is what every site here is genuinely made of.
Hand-written HTML & CSS
Semantic markup and a design system built on custom properties. No WordPress, no Wix, no Squarespace, no Elementor.
Images done properly
Every photograph served as AVIF and WebP at several sizes, with the right one picked per device and correct dimensions set, so the page never jumps around as it loads.
Structured data & SEO
Schema.org markup, clean metadata, a real sitemap and a robots file — so Google understands what the business is and where it works.
Accessible by default
Keyboard navigable, screen-reader friendly, colour contrast checked, and respectful of anyone who has asked their device for reduced motion or a dark screen.
